Today, Tuesday Jan 13th, there is a special election in the State House for the vacant 139th State House Seat. Democrat Larry Pemberton Jr. faces Republican Brandon Sabbag.

This district was left vacant due to the death of Incumbent State Rep. Kevin Ryan in November. The district leans towards the Democratic Party, but is expected to competitive tonight.

Today, Tuesday Jan 6th, there is a special election in the State House for the vacant 25th State House Seat. New Britain Democratic Alderwoman Iris Noemi Sanchez faces off against New Britain Republican Constable Jamie Vaughan.

Election Day is on Tuesday!

There are several competitive races for Mayor/Selectman. We will be looking at the city of Danbury, and the towns of Stratford, Milford, Newtown, Brookfield, and East Granby.

Updated 8/29 – 18 of 21 Primaries Have Been Covered

Some towns in Connecticut will have Democratic and Republican primaries for local municipal offices ranging from mayor to board offices.

There will be no primary for mayoral nominations in Stamford, however there will be a Democratic primary on September 9th for the Stamford Board of Representatives in five districts. Some districts have an incumbent who did not receive the town endorsement and are challenging the endorsed slate.

State Senator Ryan Fazio (R-Greenwich) launched an exploratory committee for governor last Friday. Fazio need to make a decision in the next couple of weeks if he wants a shot at the nomination.

Waterbury has no mayoral race this year. However, contested primaries in the Board of Aldermen and Board of Education on both sides have attracted attention. Republicans face internal infighting. Democrats have two groups the DTC and United Democrats of Waterbury facing off against one another.

Luke Bronin, the former mayor of Hartford, released a campaign video Tuesday morning announcing a primary challenge to 14-term incumbent John Larson. Bronin tells viewers in his campaign video “We don’t have time to wait”.

John Larson has two challengers who filed against him. In addition, two promient local politicans, Former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and State Rep. Jillian Gilchrest may join what’s looking like a crowded race against the 14-term incumbent.
