Things aren’t looking great heading to November for the GOP in the State Senate, headlined by two open Republican-held seats that Kamala Harris won by more than 16 points. If Republicans lose these two seats, they will only have 9 seats in the State Senate. This would be the worst result for the CT GOP since the 1974 election cycle, where the Watergate Scandal led Democrats to a 29D-7R Senate and a massive 118D-33R House.
Special Election in State House District 139 on Jan 13th
Today, Tuesday Jan 13th, there is a special election in the State House for the vacant 139th State House Seat. Democrat Larry Pemberton Jr. faces Republican Brandon Sabbag.
This district was left vacant due to the death of Incumbent State Rep. Kevin Ryan in November. The district leans towards the Democratic Party, but is expected to competitive tonight.

Today, Tuesday Jan 6th, there is a special election in the State House for the vacant 25th State House Seat. New Britain Democratic Alderwoman Iris Noemi Sanchez faces off against New Britain Republican Constable Jamie Vaughan.

A Looming Challenge Ahead for the Endorsed Candidates in Stamford
There will be no primary for mayoral nominations in Stamford, however there will be a Democratic primary on September 9th for the Stamford Board of Representatives in five districts. Some districts have an incumbent who did not receive the town endorsement and are challenging the endorsed slate.
